The Monaco Blue Initiative returns for its 17th edition
on May 2026 at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco

For more than fifteen years, the Monaco Blue Initiative (MBI), co-organized by the Oceanographic Institute and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, has established itself as a unique strategic forum dedicated to ocean governance and protection. This new edition of the MBI serves as a prelude to the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF), providing a working session designed to fuel reflection, structure priorities, and inform the discussions that will take place during the event.

A high-level political event, the Monaco Blue Initiative will bring together around a hundred participants, in order to promote strategic discussions between decision-makers, scientists and major players in the governance of the ocean around a day alternating between plenary sessions and special networking opportunities.

A truly international benchmark event, since 2010 the MBI has been a platform for dialogue and co-construction, bringing together key ocean stakeholders—scientists, public decision-makers, international organizations, NGOs, and economic actors—to address current and future global challenges in ocean management and conservation in a concrete, operational, and forward-looking manner.

With these two complementary highlights, the Oceanographic Institute and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation now intend to capitalize on the strategic expertise of the MBI and the capacity for mobilization of the Prince Albert II Foundation,  the MBI and the capacity of mobilizing financial resources of the BEFF to take a new step forward: amplify the collective impact, strengthen the bridges between scientific knowledge, decision-making policy and financial action, and accelerate the implementation of concrete solutions to protect the ocean.
