CORAL REEFS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION “IMMERSION”, FROM 18 JULY

From 18 July, the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco will be playing host to a special guest: the Great Barrier Reef. One of the seven natural wonders of the world, it is revealed in the IMMERSION exhibition. A multimedia device offers visitors the opportunity to experience a dive to meet the emblematic species that inhabit the largest coral ecosystem on the planet. This immersive experience, at the crossroads of contemplation and interaction, engages and educates the public to better protect the marine world.

Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art technology and a real-time projection system, “IMMERSION” allows the audience to interact with an environment that is fictional in its operation, but realistic and naturalistic in its rendering. With an experience centered on the realism of the sensation of diving, the visitor, like a diver during his exploration, observes the evolution of different species that interact with him according to his behavior, his movements and his gestures. The public evolves in a living environment in perpetual movement, where all encounters are possible: from the humpback whale to the carpet shark, from barracudas to fluorescent corals.
