The Odyssey of Sea Turtles

A new visiting area covering 550m²

Discover the great adventure of sea turtles at this new open-air space of the Oceanographic Museum, learn about their life-cycle and the threats to their existence, the magic of egg-laying and the actions taken to ensure their protection in this brand new area spanning 550 m². This unique area consolidates dialogue with all our target audiences (visitors, researchers, decision-makers and pupils) and gives visitors an opportunity to discover, share and get involved in the life of sea turtles. To accompany the opening of this new area, there is a themed exhibition on the first floor of the Museum.

They shared the Earth with the dinosaurs, witnessed the birth of Homo Sapiens and their longevity has fascinated many civilisations. Today, however, sea turtles are threatened by extinction.
Over the last three decades, a collapse in most of their populations
has been observed worldwide. This is unfortunately not unrelated to Man...
In Monaco, in collaboration with the French Mediterranean Sea Turtles Network (RTMMF), we have been taking in injured or sick turtles for years now. In 2019, we achieved a new milestone with the opening of a dedicated awareness area. This area is symbolic of our strong and enduring commitment, matched by our ambition to draw people’s attention to this fascinating animal.
If you are interested in the future of sea turtles, get involved and help us save them.
